Taikang Life Insurance has announced plans to invest up to Rmb100 billion (US$16 billion) to address the needs of China’s ageing population. The Chinese insurer is planning to increase its investment during the next five years in elderly-care communities and hospitals. It recently opened its first self-invested hospital next to its elderly residential community in Beijing. Taikang will launch similar projects in Shanghai and Guangzhou in 2016 while land has been set aside in Sanya, Wuhan and Chengdu for new projects that will start operation by 2020. Recently, Taikang Life Insurance teamed up with Tasly Holding Group, a traditional Chinese medicine and healthcare company, to launch the Rmb5 billion Tasly Healthcare Industry Fund. According to a report by the China Money Network, the fund will invest in . . . . read more
